Introduction
Thinking of visiting South Korea? With its plethora of cities perfect for sightseeing and exploration, Busan stands out as a must-visit destination. As the country’s second-largest city, Busan offers breathtaking cityscapes and a wealth of tourist attractions, including the famous Haeundae and Gwangan-ri Beaches. Curious about the best spots to explore in Busan and what you can expect to see there? Let me be your guide to this vibrant city.
1. Busan Gwangan-ri beach
Have you ever heard of Gwangan Bridge, the most famous and beautiful bridge in Korea? After sunset, various colors light up the bridge across Gwangan beach. If weather permits, you can sit on benches on the beach, restaurants and pubs, and enjoy the view of the bridge. Especially, most restaurants and pubs are open late at night. So You can enjoy the nightlife in South Korea while enjoying drinks and the company of many people.
How to get there?
Public transportation of this city is well-developed, typical of the 2nd city in South Korea. I think it is useful to get any public transportation such as a train, subway or bus. If you come to Busan by train, such as the KTX from Seoul, taking a bus from Busan Train Station is more recommended than taking the subway. And If you take the subway, you will need to transfer once and it will take longer than taking the bus.
2. Hwang ryeong-san beacon fires
Gwangan-ri beach is near a tall mountain named Hwangryeongsan, which is around 400 meters tall. This mountain has a lovely road with cherry blossoms in the spring. Also, there’s an ancient beacon fire from the 15th century where you can enjoy a stunning night view of Busan.
How to get there
I think this beacon fire is a muse-see travel spot in Busan. Unfortunately, this spot has no public transportation such as buses or trains. You have to take a taxi when you go to this observatory.
According to my experiences, some taxi drivers don’t want to go there because the way back is long. But keep trying! When you go up there, you will be happy and have no regrets visiting.
- Do you like hiking? If so, try to climb up there. It will take about 1 hour from entrance of the mountain.
3. Huinnyeoul culture village
Huinnyeoul culture village is on the island of Young-do, which is connected to the mainland by a bridge. In the past, this village was a small and quiet town where lived the people who had low income. But as time goes by, more and more people here for sightseeing, this place has become one of the famous tourist spots in Busan.
How to get there
As a famous tourist spot, this place is connected by public transportation. However, there are no subway stations on the island. So you need to take a taxi or bus if you want to come to this village.
4. Busan Haeundae beach
Haeundae Beach is renowned as one of the most famous tourist spots, alongside Gwangan Beach. With its fame, it offers a plethora of accommodations, dining options, and lively pubs. To enjoy the nightlife in Busan, you have to come to Haeundae. It’s the place to be for vibrant entertainment and lively experiences after dark.
Do you have an instagram account? Haeundae offers plenty of photo-worthy spots. With its numerous buildings, artificial lights illuminate the entire city. Capture the beauty of these illuminated buildings at night!
How to get there?
Haeundae, located in the east of Busan, is well-served by public transportation. And at a 10minute walking distance, you’ll find Haeundae Subway station, with many hotels lining the road from there and beyond. If you’re planning to stay in Busan for a few days, I recommend getting accommodation in Haeundae.
5. Busan Gamcheon Culture village
After the Korean War in the 1950s, many people fled to Busan to escape the North Korean army, leading to a significant increase in population. This is why Busan has the 2nd-largest population in Korea, following Seoul.
This village was established during that period due to the above mentioned reasons. when you visit, you’ll find hills with steep inclines, and towns nestled along their slopes. As you stroll along the narrow roads in this town, you’ll sense the heartbreak of the people who lived through the war here.
How to get there
I recommend taking a taxi from Toseong Subway station, which is next to Jagalchi market Subway station. Taking the bus is also a good option for getting there. If you prefer the bus, head to the bus stop at Busan University Hospital. for detailed information about routes, you can search on Google Maps or Naver Maps.

From the picturesque Gwangan-ri Beach to the stunning night views atop Hwangryeongsan, the historic charm of Huinnyeoul Culture Village, the bustling nightlife of Haeundae Beach, and the poignant history of Gamcheon Culture Village, each destination has its own unique appeal.
