Introduction
Today’s post aims to share photos of the sunset scenery at Seonyudo Beach, a highly famous sunset spot in Jeollabuk-do.
Located in the heart of Seonyudo, which is renowned for its exceptional beauty, Seonyudo Beach is situated at the westernmost tip of Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do.
During summer, it attracts crowds of vacationers, while in winter, many visitors come to witness the sunset over the sea.
About Seonyudo beach
Usually, when one thinks of the East Coast of Korea, the first image that comes to mind is “sunrise,” while on the West Coast, it’s the opposite, with “sunset” being the primary association.
Unlike the East Coast, which tends to have many islands or intricate coastlines, the West Coast often features calmer waves due to its geographical features.
This creates a serene atmosphere, especially during sunset, which adds to the beauty of the diverse coastal landscape.
Parking lot in Seonyudo-beach
Seonyudo Beach doesn’t have its own parking lot. To ensure smooth parking, visitors should use the public parking lot indicated on the map above.
During the off-season when fewer people visit, there’s relatively more space.
However, during peak summer months, it gets crowded with visitors from all over the country.
Thus, it’s crucial to plan ahead due to potential parking shortages.
Overview of Seonyudo beach
After parking, it’s a short 5-minute walk to the beach. Upon entering Seonyudo, the beach is visible first, followed by the parking lot, making it easy to find the direction of the beach from the parking lot.
The scenery of Seonyudo
While a typical sunset landscape often features the sun setting beyond the horizontal line of the sea.
It presents an exotic view with islands seemingly floating above the horizon. Creating curves reminiscent of brush strokes.
Watching the sun set between these islands offers a mesmerizing experience.
The scenery of the sunset, captured alongside Daejangdo Island across from Seonyudo, brings to mind descriptions of sunrise reflected in the sea, reminiscent of childhood literature.
Seonyudo Beach is adorned with several parasols set up for decorative purposes. While there are few people resting under these parasols, they are frequently used for photo opportunities, with many visitors standing under them for snapshots.
Personally, while photographing the sunset here, I often find myself naturally framing the sunset with these parasols.
As the sun completely sets, darkness gradually envelops Seonyudo.
With few streetlights in the countryside, if one’s gaze shifts away from the direction of the sunset, they may notice the area becoming significantly darker.
