Suncheon bay Garden: Location, Admission, and Overview

Overview

Have you ever been to Suncheon bay Garden? I frequently visited Suncheon in the past, around 2010, and at that time, Suncheon was famous for three main attractions: Suncheon Bay, Nakaneupseong Fortress, and the drama set.

However, now there’s a place that stands out the most and threatens the prominence of Suncheon when visited – the Suncheon bay Garden. Before its completion, there wasn’t much to see, but now it offers quite a spectacle to tourists, with various themed gardens from around the world spread across a vast area.

I visited without much expectation but found immense satisfaction, spending time at Suncheon Garden. How does it look now?

Location and Visiting Information of Suncheon bay Garden

Suncheon Garden is divided into an entrance gate and a main gate. Due to the heavy influx of visitors, I was directed by staff to park at the main gate.

From there, it takes about 20 minutes to reach the central part of Suncheon Garden, but along the way, one encounters various unique animals like cranes and geese, making the walk entertaining. Both the main and entrance gates have several electric vehicle charging stations, allowing visitors to explore the garden for an extended period.

Parking Facilities at Suncheon bay Garden

Due to its extensive size, the parking lot is quite spacious, accommodating many vehicles at once. However, I observed some vehicles circling around due to the lack of parking space. Fortunately, being an electric car, I was able to park at the charging station and explore the garden freely.

Admission Fees for Suncheon bay Garden Garden

To reach the ticket booth, visitors can follow the signs either by walking straight from where people are heading or following the signs indicating the ticket booth. The standard adult ticket price is ₩15,000 per person, with separate fees for teenagers and children.

Inside Suncheon bay Garden

Upon receiving the admission ticket, visitors are greeted with various flowers, large trees, and well-matched buildings inside Suncheon bay Garden. I witnessed many people enjoying their time within the garden due to the pleasant weather. I regretted not coming earlier, as the picturesque landscapes continuously delighted the eyes.

Walking among flamingos and even geese, one can have an even more enjoyable time with children. Besides creating extensive gardens, there are also many spaces for citizens to rest, including shady spots for napping. Facilities like lockers, wheelchair rentals, and baby stroller rental services are available, ensuring convenience for visitors with different needs.

Crossing from the entrance gate to the central part of Suncheon bay Garden requires walking across a long pedestrian-only bridge called the “Bridge of Dreams.” The bridge features numerous small squares drawn by elementary school students, creating a gallery-like experience. This was another interesting aspect of the garden.

Themed Gardens at Suncheon bay Garden

Walking from the entrance gate towards the main gate, visitors encounter miniature gardens representing various countries, each with its unique features well-preserved. I and my spouse focused on exploring these themed gardens, skipping other attractions due to the garden’s vastness and limited time.

Chinese Garden

Resembling traditional Chinese gardens, this area features green trees, pavilions, and quaint bridges, offering a picturesque scene. I remember this as the most photogenic spot in the Chinese-themed garden.

French Garden

Inspired by the Palace of Versailles, the French garden evokes memories of my visit to the palace six years ago. With its vibrant Western garden landscape, it’s an excellent place for enthusiasts of European garden aesthetics to explore and capture beautiful photos.

Conclusion

Suncheon bay Garden is too vast to explore in a single day and can be physically exhausting. It’s recommended to leisurely tour the garden over two days, especially for hobbyist photographers seeking diverse shooting opportunities. For parents needing a safe space for their children to play, this is an ideal destination. If time permits, allocate at least two days to visit Suncheon and enjoy its marvels.
